Devlog 3: Scheduling My Work
Scheduling overall had been a relatively simple process for my group. With the use of Trello, dividing large cards into subsidiary tasks helped us delegate members and set due dates for them. For the most part, our group would work on these tasks at least a week prior to the official due date and update the team on their progress once finished with the task. Our meetings tend to be long enough that we are able to work on what we need together while also reviewing what everyone has done prior.
For my work personally, I feel that I did not schedule everything else outside of this course efficiently. I often spend a lot of time on projects due sooner than those later, and those latter assignments are set to the back burner. Sometimes it doesn't matter if I work on projects early -- I will still spend an unnecessary amount of time thinking about them. This often has a domino effect on every assignment, as the time that could be spent working on an assignment will go towards mulling about one that is due sooner.
Outside of my group's project, I am not nearly as organized with my schedule and time management and believe I could incorporate some practices used in the development of Day by Day for my individual school work and personal projects. Most of this stems from underestimating the amount of time I had to work on assignments as being in person has cut the time I had while being remote in half.
That being said, I will continue to work on scheduling myself outside of this project better as it would definitely facilitate an efficient workflow all year around, and potentially curve from any risks that can arise in the near future of development.
