Dev Log 4: Learning Reflection: how will this prepare me for next semester?
While working in a group to create a game is nothing new for any of us, having the game developed to this extent has proposed to be a learning curve. Learning something vs applying it has presented to be two different things, and while we ran into some misunderstandings regarding our own game, utilizing the tools provided has helped us to formulate a shared vision. Somewhat. It's a long but important process - writing documents, that is. The detail and attention required are meticulous, but prove to be imperative. I'm excited to see where the fruits of our labour will wind up taking us.
That being said, handling the risk analysis document is presenting us with potential obstacles that may be hard to overcome. We tell ourselves "Oh, there's a low probability it will happen!" but, well, it's not impossible either. These risks can't be treated as a means to finish the risk analysis document assignment but should be taken seriously. The future is unpredictable, after all. Of course, the idea of these documents is to help mitigate these issues, but there will always be an itch in the back of our necks with the what-ifs.
Making the thing may feel intimidating, but the team feels strongly about where we are heading in the development Day by Day. We will continue to work towards the completion of these documents, including the GDD (which we definitely need to review together), so we are well prepared for the semester of production.
